Celtic's seniors had
been out of sorts last week, but they had shaken off
the post-Christmas doldrums for this visit to
Clondalkin against Booth Road who had proved tough
opposition in the home fixture in Porterstown.
This week the Celtic
strikers had their shooting boots on, and tested the
home keeper continually throughout the game. They
went ahead after 20 mins following a free kick which
fell to Graham Fennell, back to full fitness after
his long lay off. He shot home for the first
goal. His return is a big addition to the
squad, his encouragement of team mates is a special
asset to the team.
Stephen O'Callaghan got
the second after racing through and rounding the
keeper to score. 2-0. Booth Road hit back to
reduce the arrears at half time. 2-1 to Celtic.
Celtic looked back to
their best in the second half, and created many
chances, but it was John Dunne who got the third,
which leaves Celtic pressing hard on the league
leaders with games in hand. The spring is going to
be a busy time yet again for this team of
youngsters, who as usual are giving excellent value
for money to their supporters.
