AUL Div 2 Sunday

Celtic continued their relentless pursuit of more honours again this season with this resounding thrashing of the team in fourth spot in the league table, 3 points separated them at kick-off.  But at the end of the game this narrow margin seemed to have become very wide indeed.

In truth, Celtic dominated this game from start to finish, and in the final 10 minutes of the game they could probably have doubled the score. The whole forward line spurned chances, narrowly missing with a succession of opportunities.

On 15 minutes, Steve O'Callaghan converted a chance he had created himself. 1-0.

10 minutes later, Shane Smurf Murphy was taken down in the box, and Adam O'Callaghan clinically converted the spot kick. 2-0

Adam was again on hand after 35 mins to make it 3-0 after the Kilbarrack keeper spilled a Steve O'Callaghan cross. 3-0 half-time.

The second half was more of the same, and after only 4 mins following the break, Steve O'Callaghan started and finished a fine move for his second. He threw in to the bro Adam, who passed to Simon Fleming, and he set up Steve to stick his chance in the back of the net.  4-0.

10 mins later, the Kilbarrack defender handled in the box, for which he was red-carded, and Simon Fleming made it 5-0 from the penalty spot.

John Dunne came on in the second half, and it was he who was set up by Colm Brady for the sixth. 6-0.

Around this time, the cameraman arrived, and the Celtic strikeforce got stage fright, yes, like rabbits in the headlights. Chance after chance went a-begging, but they were unable to enhance their goal difference.  Apart from Arnie Brady's incandescence with the offsides, the match petered out and was little more than a stroll when the ref blew the final whistle.
