NDSL 9C (Peter Killian): Balscadden Boys FC 1-6 Castleknock Celtic.  Celtic got their season under way in a blustery and wet day on the outskirts of Balbriggan and it looked like some good pre season training produced the desired result. After a shaky start the Castleknock team settled in to a good routine of passing and movement which brought the first goal. With some good work from Joe Gleeson a short pass put John Carolan through and with low drive he registered Castleknock’s first goal. The team continued to soak up the pressure with Jack Kearney at the back and the midfield of Ben Blanche, Johnny Lawlor and Broin O’ Connor tackling and fighting for every ball. Their work cleared the way for John Carolan once again to slip his chasers and drive another low shot past the Balscadden keeper.  Within 5 minutes Carolan had registered 2 more with Ben Blanche wading in with another. Castleknock were 5 up at the break. The second half began well for Balscadden when they pulled a goal back, but Castleknock made several changes and Robbie Robinson and Mark Delany settled the ship with assured performances in midfield and at the back. Snuffing out any threat Balscadden had was Sean Maher who played some great football up front and his work created the opportunity for Sam Hennessey to wrap up this 6-1 Win.  Man of The Match was John Carolan

DDSL 10A1 (P Danaher): Castleknock Celtic 3 - 2 Rangers.  Castleknock opened their campaign with a good home win against a determined Rangers. The team were nervous first half but settled into the match and went ahead with a good team goal converted by Ben Traynor. The team hit the bar before Rangers levelled following some sloppy play in midfield. Castleknock then missed a retaken penalty  and fell behind
after a lapse in concentration. Ayoub leveled the match before half time after another good passage of play. Second half Castleknock were the better team and Gavin Harney put Celtic ahead. Another missed penalty back off the post from Castleknock led to a tense finish but we were worthy winners at the end. Good performance by the team especially Jay Harper and Aidan Kearney in goal.  3-2

DDSL 10B (Sat) (P Mason): Celtic had a fantastic start to the season with a 5-2 win over Mount Merrion. The players began a little rusty and after 15 minutes Celtic scored with a fine brilliant header  by Aayo from a great corner by Jamie.  It wasn’t long before Aayo scored a second with a tap in after Mykola crossed. Stephen kept a clean sheet with some excellent saves from a determined Mount Merrion. Two nil at the break but there was more drama to come. Five minutes into the second half and Aayo struck for his hat trick. The boys took their foot off the pedal and let Merrion in with two soft goals from some sloppy midfield play. Game on with ten minutes to go and Dylan scored a cracker to take the pressure off. The game was sealed with a fabulous strike from Geremi with the last kick of the game. An absolute team performance with lots of good passing helped Celtic win this match.  They can't wait for their next outing.  5-2

NDSL 14C (J O'Leary): Swords Manor 2 v 2 Castleknock Celtic.  The season opener saw Castleknock away to Swords Manor. In a very tightly fought game it was honours even at full time.

Castleknock started well and applied early pressure to the Swords defence. Just as Swords were getting into the game, Castleknock struck with a well rehearsed corner kick routine. As confusion reigned in the Swords penalty area Shane Coffey struck with a powerful header. For the rest of the half Castleknock dealt comfortably with the Swords attack. Then with half time looming a mix up in the Castleknock defence gifted Swords an equaliser. HT 1-1

The second half started with Castleknock again applying all the pressure. Their dominance was rewarded when a sweeping move was finished to the net by Paddy Mulhair. Swords came back strongly, and were level within 5 minutes when a defensive lapse again contributed to their second equaliser. Both teams had further chances to win, but in the end a draw was a fair result. FT 2-2

DDSL 15Maj (B Kennedy): Having gone down 2-0 away to Ballyoulster in Celbridge, it was always going to  bed a tough assignment.  But this team is made of stern stuff.  Sloppy defending and an early penalty put Celtic on the back foot.  Kyle Turner brought Celtic back into the game with a well worked goal.  Aran Mooney brought Celtic on terms, and Kyle's excellent display was sealed with a 25 yard free kick, and a great result to keep the 100 per cent record intact.  3-2
