Castleknock
Celtic 1 Kilnamanagh 1
DDSL U-17
Major
18th Oct.
2009
Both sides arrived in Porterstown for an 11am kick -off
only to discovered that, due to a mix-up on the part of
the League, their match was delayed until 12.45 kick
-off. Very sporting of both teams, they agreed to the
later kick-off and immediately headed to the Coffee Dock
where they availed of some important carbohydrate
loading. What a great vital facility this Coffee Dock
is!!
Kilnamanagh appeared to benefit more from their
indulging in Coffee Dock as they completely deprived
Castleknock of any space by their very high workrate and
by their effective closing down system. After 25 minutes
Kilnamanagh opened the scoring with what looked like a
harmless-looking shot but just sneaked inside the
Castleknock post.
It was still 1-0 at the break with Castleknock looking
to have it all to do in the 2nd half. To their credit
Castleknock refused to accept defeat and slowly but
surely got a grip on the game. At that stage Kilnamangh
appeared to be running out of steam after their hectic
high-tempo 1st half.
After forcing several corners, the break eventually came
for Castleknock when from a corner, Conor Mooney found
Pride Minyuku who made no mistake from close range.
All in all a fair result after what was a very a long
morning. The Club Secretary was very appreciative
of the very cooperative teams who made sure that the
league programme was not disrupted.
