Liffey Pearse 2 Castleknock Celtic
3
DDSL 15Major
Divn.
25th October
2009
Table toppers Liffey Pearse were toppled by Castleknock
Celtic from the top of the DDSL Under 15 Major division.
The win puts Castleknock up to second in the table a
point behind the new leaders Leicester Celtic.
This was a tough game and the Castleknock team showed
real determination and character to come out winners in
a bruising encounter.
Stephen Treadwell gave Celtic the lead with a cool
finish in the 20th minute. Liffey drew level just before
the break and then went ahead just after half time. The
steel in this Celtic team became very evident when the
pressure was on, and they came back with a stunning free
kick from Sean Hoare and then a long range effort from
Mark Conroy found the back of the net. Late in the game
Adam Weafer tipped a great free kick over the bar to
give Celtic the deserved victory.
Great credit to the whole of the Castleknock team for
holding their nerve and composure to win this very
competitive match. Stephen Kenna was excellent before
being substituted after a horrendous tackle. Kevin
Flanagan excelled in midfield, while Tom Fogarty made a
short but important appearance as substitute. |
