2009
A very strange day indeed.
Celtic had got a call notifying them that the game was
off due to waterlogged pitch. By chance, the team
manager learned that it was a hoax call that had tried
to mislead them. With emergency rearrangements,
the game went ahead with Celtic minus a couple of
players, arriving just in time to fulfil the fixture.
Well done Brian Kennedy for rescuing the situation.
There is a lesson for all club secretaries in this
experience.
It started ominously for Celtic
when they went 1-0 down after 5 mins. Maybe the
hoax would have an impact after all. But Aron
Mooney was not having any of that, and he struck well
from the edge of the box to level matters. The
change in fortune continued when a beautiful flowing
move ended with Keelan McAnerin tapping in at the far
post. 2-1 half-time.
The second half saw Celtic maintain
their dominance, playing fine football. Their
superiority was rewarded with a 3rd goal to essentially
make it safe, despite a late 2nd for Naas late on.
This was a triumph for this Celtic
team who have shown that they are well capable of doing
well in their first season in this division. 3-2 |
