Castleknock Celtic 0
Baldoyle Utd 2
NDSL U-13D
7th March 2010
On a perfect
morning for football Castleknock welcomed league leaders
Baldoyle Utd to Porterstown. The game started at a
furious pace, with Castleknock having the best of the
early exchanges. This period saw them spurn two
excellent scoring opportunities, and have a very
legitimate penalty claim denied.
Baldoyle
gradually came more into the game, and showed on
occasions just why they top the league. Castleknock
stuck to their task, and more than matched the league
leaders.
The opening
goal when it came went to Baldoyle, and was a rather
fortuitous affair.
HT 0 - 1
The second
half started with Castleknock again taking the game to
Baldoyle. However a very strong defence was making it
very difficult for them to create any clear cut
chances.
A Baldoyle
counter attack midway through the half saw them go two
up, when a well struck shot from the right of the
penalty found its way to the net.
Castleknock
to their credit did not throw in the towel, and a
number of positional switches saw them again gain the
initiative. With ten minutes remaining a second very
legitimate penalty claim was again turned down by the
referee. This effectively closed the door on any chance
that Castleknock had of getting something from the
game.
