Celtic 2 Fettercairn 5
DDSL U-11 Cup
17th Oct.
2009
A harsh result on the CC lads after a game in which they
had most of the play. CC took the lead through a fine
strike by Brian McDevitt which went over the keeper's
head. This was quickly reversed by Fettercairn and a
second followed despite CC having most of the ball. CC
equalised with a goal by Stephen Lynch and looked the
better team. The two Ruairi's Mcloughlin and Dixon
combined with a great run from Mcloughlin and a fine
cross from Dixon . John Byrne made contact right in
front of the goals but it sailed over. Fettercairne then
scored what seemed to one and all from an offside ball
to regain the lead.
The CC defence had held firm up to this and still kept
their shape throughout the game. Dixon did break the
defence after some fine play by Conor Mangan and John
Byrne saw Dixon in on goal but the opposition's goalie
pulled off two fine saves. The fourth from Fettercairn
was a good piece of work from their number 11 and CC
couldn't have any complaints.
CC never gave up, but the fifth goal for Fettercairn
came as a complete sickener. The ball came off Hesam El
Morsy's foot and was scooped up by the CC goalie Robert
Duff. This resulted in an indirect free kick from 6
yards which proved impossible to defend. This was the
end of a very chanllenging day for the CC lads. Man of
the Match Ruairi McLoughlin. |
