Rosemount 3
Castleknock Celtic 4
DDSL U-11D
10th Oct
2009
A bright cold Saturday saw an early start for the
Castleknock lads for their second away game on the trot
having missed the postponed cup game against Fettercairn.
The game started well with Castleknock having most of
the possession. Rosemount settled and, with CC not
having made the most of their early promise, Rosemount
got the first goal.
Ruairi Dixon made the perfect response when he scored a
fine goal to level things with a looping shot going over
the keeper. Rosemount went ahead again before half time,
but Castleknock's Stephen Lynch made a fine run with a
finish that left the opposition's keeper with no
answer. The half finished 2-2.
Castleknock had to make a number of changes at half time
to deal with the threat from the Rosemount number 11.
Hesham El Morsy marked the number 11 out of the game for
most of the second half.
Castleknock had most of the possession and should have
scored several times before John Byrne struck a fine
shot to put visitors into the lead for the first time,
this partially made up for what should have been a
penalty moments earlier after Stephen Lynch was taken
down in the box.
This goal stung Rosemount into a fine spell of football
which resulted in a free that was high over CC's defence
and keeper to bring the sides level once again. But this
Castleknock team have shown that they will not lie down
and pressed time and again looking for a winner. Hakim
Murungu made his way past most of the Rosemount
defence and struck a cracker of a shot into the the net
to give Castleknock a deserved win. Man of the Match
goes to Hesham El Morsy for a great display in defence.
