September 2009
AUL Div2 Sat (P Finn): Celtic continue with
their recovery after defeat in their first outing after
the close season. 2 successive wins have revived hopes
for another successful season after winning the Cup and
being runners-up in the league last term. Celtic
got off to a flyer in this home game v last year's
league winners, Greenfield Park Boys. 2
early goals from Keith Pender, a penalty, and James
Haughton put the home side 2-1 up at half-time. A
stunning 40 yarder from Johnny Moriarty put the result
beyond doubt. Man of the match, Steve McMullen
took off a string of full-stretch saves at vital
times.
LSL Maj1B Sat (Ray Bowe): This was a big test
for Celtic at home to Donore, and it looked for long
spells that their less than par performance was going to
be punished. They went behind to a harsh penalty
against the Celtic keeper, Mick Flood, who had put in a
strong performance. The striker seemed to make
sure that he made contact with the keeper, and the ref
harshly pointed to the spot. Celtic dug deep and the
introduction of Des Kennearney, Cormac O'Reilly Dave
Matthews, and goalscorer, Alan Mooney worked the oracle.
Fergal Cusack had battled in the box which resulted in
the chance for Alan, who struck sweetly with 8 mins to
go. Unfortunately, Fergal had to go to hospital
for medical attention, and we wish him a speedy
recovery. 1-1.

AUL PremC Sun (Ed OCallaghan): Celtic
continued their good start to the season when they
entertained Raheny Utd in Porterstown. Steve
O'Callaghan and Larry Jacobe shared a brace each in
their 4-1 league win. Larry was within a whisker
of getting his hat-trick when he was out of luck with
his effort late on. 4-1
AUL Div2 Sun (P Hoey): Celtic had gone close
in their 2 previous outings. They finally came
good in this away fixture against Ayrfield. They
thoroughly deserved this 3-0 win. Aaron McAdam had
got Celtic off to a perfect start with a cracker after 3
mins. The result was however always in doubt until
Sean McGarrity popped up in the box in the 68th min to
make it 2-0. The game was sealed in the final mins
when man of the match Eoin O'Shea struck a coolly taken
penalty to make it 3-0.
NDSL 8Prem (P Killian):
DDSL 8C (Craig Shiels):
NDSL 8D (Pat Reilly)
DDSL 9C (P Danaher): Castleknock Celtic 4-1
Valeview Shankhill. Castleknock bounced back from last
week's defeat with an impressive home win against
Valeview Shankhill. The team started very well going 1-0
up through Gavin Harney before Valeview pulled one back
before half-time. The second half produced an excellent
performance with goals from Ruari Cullen and a brace
from Matthew Moran sealing the victory.
4-1
NDSL 9B (P Mason):
NDSL 9D (C Jones):
DDSL 9F (Shane White): This was
another tremendous win for Shane's
team, and Brian Cummins' coaching influence is paying
dividends. They put 6
past local rivals St Mochtas. The rout
was led by Jack Hughes who hit a brace for
the 2nd week running. Keelan McEnee also
recorded a brace. Daragh was superb in the
Celtic goal. Mikey White was tremendous in a
great all-round team performance. They have
a 100% record after their first 2 outings.
NDSL 10P+ (T Rush):
NDSL 10P (A Schmidt):
DDSL 10C (T Molloy): Celtic entertained
Palmerstown United in a sun drenched Porterstown Park.
The game was a tough one, with both sides playing to the
best of their ability. Celtic held out to get the win,
scoring in the last couple of minutes, to make it two
wins out of two, and a great start to the season.
1-0.
NDSL 10D (M Stevens):
NDSL 10F (Sean Porter)
DDSL 10D (Rob Ryan)
NDSL 11B (E Mullen):
NDSL 11E (M Farrell): This was a
remarkable performance by Mick Farrell's troopers.
They were 2-0 down in 20 mins and things looked very
bleak. They are a resilient bunch of lads and
their mettle shone through. Man of the match Jamie
Farrell hit a hat-trick, with great assists from Ian,
Asad, and Christopher, while keeper Cormac Harmon took
off a brilliant diving save in the dying mins to ensure
victory for this team whose character is more evident
every week. 3-2
DDSL 11D (Derek Dixon):
NDSL 12Prem (S Dooley):
Celtic went down 4-0 away to a very strong Woodlawn
side. The scoreline was hardly fair to the
visitors who had battled throughout, but came up short
in the vital department of scoring goals. Plaudits
must go to the Celtic keeper Stuart Rocca whose fine
display prevented a heavier defeat. 0-4 DDSL 12B (A Kelly):
Manager Mr Kelly still had sand in his toes when his
troops took to the field. His team got off to an
excellent start and dominated proceedings from start to
finish. Celtic were 4-1 up at half time. The
manager rang the changes at the break, which blended
more excellent players into the mix. On the
scoresheet for Celtic were Stuart Harold, Jack Rafter,
Reuben Ferreira, Jordan Barnes, Nedin Hivacic, and Cian
Brieffie. 6-1

NDSL 13B (Conor/Martin): NDSL 13C (J
O'Leary): DDSL 14Maj (B Kennedy): 3 goals in
the final 7 mins put an unhealthy look on this scoreline.
It was 2-1 to Wayside in South County Dublin at half
time. Celtic spurned a host of chances and they
were made to pay dearly for their profligacy. 1-5 NDSL 14C
(T Hanlon):
DDSL 14B (D Byrne):
NDSL 14D
(Gerry/Oleg):
Celtic put in a fine performance at home to Swords
Manor, but their lack of match practice together proved
too much of a handicap, as they went down 2-4.
NDSL 15Prem (J Roe): Celtic had to battle hard to
have their noses in front when proceedings were called
to a halt by the ref. Luke Gealon had put Celtic
in front with a cracking 40 yarder that caught the
keeper out. Darndale surprisingly struck back to
level proceedings. Brian Slevin had been taken
ashore having been injured going for goal. He had
joined Adam in the sick-bay, where the sideline looked
like Emergency Ward 10. Adam needed an x-ray for
his damaged foot. Slevin returned to the fray, and
scored what should be the decisive goal. 2-1
 DDSL 15Maj (D
Bradshaw): Celtic recorded a 3-1 win over Naas in
Porterstown. 3-1 NDSL 15A (A Kelly): It
took Celtic almost half an hour to break the deadlock in
this league cup game in Laurel Lodge. Rob Kelly hit a
superb strike to make it 1-0 at half-time. The
second half saw more of the sweet passing football from
Celtic which led to Atif Saied making it 2-0.
Raheny pulled one back with a stunning free kick into
the top corner, ala Jimmy Case for Liverpool.
Yusuf Shushan restored the home side's 2 goal advantage
with a cool header from close range. The best came
late on when John O'Hare (that's a familiar name, yes
Derby County). He picked up the ball in defence,
took it through the midfield, and then took on the
defence. He finished off the magical move with an
unstoppable shot into the bottom corner. Well done
Celtic. 4-1. NDSL 15C
(Pierce/Willie):

Dunboyne proved too strong for Celtic in Porterstown.
2-4 NDSL 18A
(G Hunt): Celtic found Baldoyle Utd too tough a nut
to crack at home in Porterstown, going down 0-2 to the
seasiders. 0-2. |
