5/6 September 2009
AUL Div2 Sat (P Finn): Celtic got back to
winning ways with a comprehensive 3-1 win at home to
Belclare. A brace from Keith Pendred and one from David
Hunt earned the points for Celtic. 3-1
LSL Maj1D Sat (Ray Bowe): Another draw for Ray
Bowe's team, following this 2-2 draw away to Firhouse.
Aided by a strong breeze, Celtic had taken a 2 goal lead
after 6 mins, with goals from prolific Deco Cunningham
and Gary Deveney. Despite much pressure and
superiority, Celtic failed to get that 3rd goal. Then
against the run of play, Firhouse were given a lifeline
with a poorly defended goal. It seemed that Celtic
had weathered the storm, when deep in injury time a
freak goal direct from a corner earned Firhouse an
unlikely share of the points. Despite having to
settle for a draw, Celtic remain undefeated this season,
which will give him encouragement as he chases honours.
2-2
AUL PremC Sun (Ed OCallaghan): Celtic
advanced in the Nivea Cup with an emphatic win away to
McKelvey Celtic. The Daily Star were on hand to
cover the game, and they awarded the man of the match
award to Billy Thompson, who hit top form, including
scoring. Larry Jacob helped himself to a couple, David
Stapleton scored a beauty, while Billy and Alan Bohan
got the other goals. The scoring was completed
with an own goal. The 4-5-1 system worked a dream on the
day, which the management team of Eddie O'Callaghan,
Arnie Brady, Steve Lawlor and Noel Murray were very
pleased with.

close match away to Home Farm, between two
evenly-matched teams. Castleknock took a 2 goal lead
with both scored by Gavin Harney before Home Farm pulled
one back before half-time. The second half was
disappointing for Castleknock with Home Farm scoring 3
unanswered goals and Castleknock hitting the post twice.

Celtic got their league campaign off to a steady start
with a 2-2 home draw v promoted Swords Manor.
Celtic had found themselves 0-1 down at the break.
But goals from Kevin Miller and Demi Dare saw the home
side in front, which lasted until the dying seconds when
Swords got an equaliser at the death. 2-2 DDSL 12B (A Kelly):

season at a very wet Sportslink. Despite
Castleknock dominating the early exchanges, Woodlawn
were first to score. Straight from the kick off however
a piledriver from Brendan Kearney had the sides level.
Sustained pressure saw Paddy Mulhair put Castleknock 2-1
up just before half time. The second half was all
Castleknock, and further goals from Shane Coffey, Kacper
Kuzma (2), Lee Penrose, and Paul Donoghue wrapped up an
emphatic win. 7-2 DDSL 13C
