Castleknock Celtic 2
Ratoath Harps 2
It seemed to be pressure all the way
on Saturday when the U9F team of Castleknock Celtic
faced Ratoath Harps in the last group stage match in the
NDSL Cup/shield.
The Ref got mad at us for being late
(even though we were waiting for the end of the previous
match); one of the players forgot to put on his shinies
and the squad was a man down (thus frustrating the
manager's plans). However, in this fixture the teams
were rather evenly matched. What wind there was, was
behind the backs of the Harps in the first half and this
seem to help them push back the Celts defence. But it
took until just before half time for Harps to make the
breakthrough. 0-1 half-time.
In to the second half and the Harps
took another bite against the run of play. 0-2
Then CCFC began to exert pressure of
their own and the comeback began with a fantastic strike
from Jack Bradshaw which tested the strength of the
net. The heads lifted and the Celtic play became more
confident. Hearts were in mouths and the mothers voices
began to shriek as the match entered the last three
minutes.
The manager indicated to his players
that time was running out.
The response was immediate. With two minutes to go,
Jack Horgan slotted the equaliser and spiralled down the
field using his arms as wings. Time then beat both
teams and the honours were shared. A good result
indeed, and the spectators were very relieved after what
was a real heart stopper for both teams.
