Artane Beaumont 1 Castleknock Celtic 9
NDSL
Cup U-9 Section A

Sept 08
That's
the way ....... uh uh..... we like it..... uh uh!
Wow...... and we are off to a
flying start. Even though the team has not had real time
to gel, the combined performance of all players
impressed the onlookers. In a 1-9 victory
over Artane - Beaumont the Castleknock team showed real
promise. The match started with both teams a little
tentative, but the opportunities arose once the nerves
were overcome and Jack Horgan slotted the first goal for
CCFC.
The team settled, then the goals
began to come, with Jack Horgan achieving a Hat trick
and more (which I don't know the term for), Thomas
Stevens scored his opener of the season, David O' Byrne
got two on his debut, Jack Bradshaw also scored on his
debut. But more to the point the team, as a whole played
really well as a unit. Jack Donohue, Ewan Lawson and
Thomas Stevens showed their skills in taking on the
opposition in the middle of the park and provided lots
of ammo for the front pack.
Caoimhe Lynam found her legs and
stretched them, making some really impressive runs up
the right wing leaving the opposition standing. The
defence was as solid as they had been at the end of last
season.
Paul Lambert, Caoimhe Lynam, joined
by Jack Rudden and Stephen Byrne in the second half
proved formidable. In goal, Oisin O'Donohue,
didn't have an awful lot to do but what he did have to
do he did well the single goal conceded is a tribute to
ever-improving skills as a keeper.
The team welcomed three newcomers to the ranks Jack
Bradshaw, Jack Rudden and David O'Byrne. We now have
four Jacks on the team ( A good poker hand!) but this is
proving difficult for the Manager who inevitiably just
shouts Jack and four heads turn. This will take a bit of
getting use to !
As the goals went in they were followed by a chorus of "That's
the way ....... uh uh..... we like it..... uh uh! "
from the Kids and parents alike. It surely is the way we
like it and hope we can continue in these winning ways.
But regardless, we will surely have fun along the
way.... eh ? |
