Castleknock Celtic  2   Shelbourne

"Celtic show their battling qualities to earn the points"

This was an excellent performance by Celtic in their home encounter with Shelbourne in Porterstown.  They pressed from the off, and they should have gone ahead with a number of  opportunities.  Then the superb Stephen Foy, Celtic's captain, half way through the first half got possession in the midfield. He put the industrious Azeez Mohamed through, and the big striker raced in to place the ball in the far corner with a fab strike.  Shelbourne were finding the going tough having lost a player after 20 minutes to a double yellow.  1-0

From the start of the second half, Shels dug deep and went close on a number  of  occasions, with Stephen Browne the busier of  the keepers, but the Celtic stopper didn't put a foot wrong.  These were anxious times, and a one goal advantage is always precarious.  Then a long ball through which again was seized on by Azeez, saw the Celtic  striker hit a superb shot into the net, giving the Shels keeper no chance.  A sigh of relief swept around Porterstown as Declan Hevey's troops got their just desserts with a 2-0 home win.  They now look forward to their up-coming  SFAI Cup game v Malahide boosted by this very competitive performance.  It was fitting that they should take the 3 points since it was their first outing since the tragic death of their greatest supporter Patrick Rocca last month, whose presence was sadly missed at the game.  2-0
