A score line that did not reflect the match. Celtic were unlucky not to have scored in the first half  having exerted long stretches of pressure. They were denied a legitimate penalty for handball and had some very borderline offsides given against them. All the while Clontarf did not threaten the Celtic goal.   Early in the second half Darragh Caffrey’s shot just left of the upright nearly put the home side ahead but disaster struck when Clontarf took the lead from a set piece corner on 42 minutes. The second came from another set piece on 49 minutes. Celtic went all out for goals but were caught with a long breaking run from defence by Clontarf with 3 minutes to go to give them a very flattering 3 goal win.
