AUL Div2A Sat : Celtic show their potential
with a stunning 5-2 home win over Virginians in
Porterstown. Odie Fanning's hat-trick and Darren
Kinsella's goal helped Celtic to this convincing victory
against a physical Virginians side. Celtic's
scoring was completed by their new striker, David Nyari.
LSL Maj1D Sat :
AUL Div1 Sun : A superb strike for Shane
Murphy and a header from John Dunne were the difference
between Celtic and the visitors, Orchard Utd. This
was a great performance which keeps them on track for
yet another title. 2-0
AUL Div3 Sun : 1-2
NDSL 7A (Peter Killian) : Celtic went
down 2-1 in classic football match in Clonee that the
visitors deserved more from. 1-2
DDSL 8A (P Danaher) : Castleknock Celtic 1 -
1 Dingle FC : Another tight match in this competitive
league ended all square. As in the previous games,
Castleknock Celtic worked extremely hard and
the effort of the boys could not be faulted. All the
boys contributed with Daniel Fagan showing nice touches
up front, Dennis Motruk and Adam Fahy grafting hard in
midfield and Callan Darcy running his heart out.
Castleknock took the lead when a good clearance from
Matthew Moran found Luke Danaher who put Gavin Harney
through on goal. Gavin slotted it coolly past the
keeper. Dingle equalised just before half-time.
The second half was a tense affair with Castleknock
closest to breaking the deadlock when Luke Danaher's
free kick was saved onto the post. 1-1
NDSL 8B (C Jones) :
NDSL 8C (P Mason) : Celtic
under 8c lost their second match in succession to bottom
side Rush. It started off scrappy and when the Celtic
keeper came and missed the ball they squeezed one into
the bottom corner. The heads went down for the rest of
the half and soon the half was dominated by Rush.. There
were few chances for Celtic in the first half and it
stayed 0:1 at the break. The second half started
brighter and after the first minute we miseed an open
goal. Rush put the pressure on but Celtic were up to it
and missed a host of chances. Captain and man of the
match Jamie McGaley was unlucky a number of times.
Eventually the tiredness set in and Rush scored a second
five minutes from the end.
This is how it
finished but Celtic had lost the shape that they
possessed in previous games and a lack of match practice
and training showed as they were very tired at the end.
While lessons were learned there is still some work to
be done if this Celtic team are to be as promising as
they were at the start of the season. We look forward to
next week’s match and we will be fitter and wiser after
Saturday. Celtic:0 Rush:2
NDSL 9A (T Rush) : Swords Celtic put
Castleknock to the sword. Away in Swords, this was a big
disappointment after their fabulous performance
last week against St Columbans. 1-3
NDSL 9B (A Schmidt) : Shield exit for Celtic
away to Howth, despite playing exceptionally well.
Celtic were first on the scoreboard Tameen Chaal.
Howth fought back and equalised with a fortuitous goal.
They then got the winner with a top class strike.
1-2
DDSL 9C (T Molloy) : Celtic won a very
entertaining game against Lucan United on Sunday morning
in Lucan, with a scoreline of 4 - 2. Celtic opened the
scoring with an indirect free kick from just outside the
box. Conal Dillon rolled the ball to Sebastian Pologrea,
who gave the keeper no chance, and stuck it into the top
corner. Celtic extended their lead just before the
break, from the penalty spot through Conor Troy. Early
in the second half, Conor Troy scored again, to make it
3 - 0. Lucan Utd. pulled one back, but not to be
outdone, Sebastian Pologrea added a fourth to Celtic's
tally. Celtic got a second penalty, which they could
afford to miss. Lucan got a deserved second goal just
before the final whistle, to make it 4 -2 to Celtic.
