18/19 October 2008
AUL Div2A Sat : Celtic cruised into the 2nd
round of the Elastoplast Shield with a lesson for
Darndale Rovers in finishing. Celtic were slow into
their stride, but when they got going, there was no
stopping them. Odie Fanning hit his first hat-trick of
the season to earn the man of the match award.
Dave Hunt and Alan Darcy, yes Darcy again finds the net,
were each on the mark, with birthday boy, Lee Hargadon,
hitting a rare goal for him, from the penalty spot. 6-0
and bring on the big boys next week in the FAI Junior
Cup in the shape of Bluebell Utd.
LSL Maj1D Sat : Vernon's boys were in
flambuoyant mood in their Leinster Junior Cup match
against St Josephs Glasthule. Deco Cunningham
scored his first from a rebound after he fluffed the
penalty kick. His second was a peach from 25
yards, hitting a Gerrard-esque shot that looped over the
keeper. Brian Moloney was in the right place at
the right time when a clearance rebounded off him into
the net. Cass and Cian Kelliher completed the
scoring for Celtic. 5-3.
AUL Div1 Sun : A stunning 25 yard
thunderbolt from Billy Thompson sent Celtic into the 2nd
round of the Leinster Junior Cup in Porterstown. Celtic
had eased their way into a 2-0 lead with goals from Weah
and Steve O'Callaghan. This was before 2 own goals
left them all square at 2-2 at half time. The match was
decided by Billy's candidate for goal of the season.
3-2
AUL Div3 Sun : Tim and Peter's 100 per
cent start remains intact. 4-1.

NDSL 7A:
A
fantastic game against Ashbourne with Castleknock going
1 up in the first half with great work from Brian Dalton
leading to a goal from Noma Erediauwa. Castleknock
missed a penalty early in the second half with Brian
Dalton upended in the box and hitting the crossbar with
the resulting spot kick. A defensive lapse in the Celtic
goal mouth led to a penalty in the second half which
Ashbourne converted to set up a thrilling finish. With 4
minutes left Noma Erediauwa was put through by great
work from Sam Turner and Sam Hennessy, and Brian Dalton
finished with great composure to give Castleknock their
first win in the regraded division. Fabulous performance
indeed. 2-1

DDSL 8A:
NDSL 8B
NDSL 8C:
NDSL 9A: Tony Rush's team had a marvellous win
over a formidable Woodlawn team. R Patton was Celtic's
marksmen. 1-0
NDSL 9B:
DDSL 9C: Celtic put in a convincing
performance against Malahide Utd in Porterstown with
goals from Killian Ronan and Conor Cummins. Andrew
Schmidt's coach took charge for the game and was very
impressed with the team's commitment that delivered a
great result that was richly deserved. 2-0
NDSL 9D:
NDSL 10A: An amazing game in Balbriggan. It is
not often we have to report a referee for not recording
the correct score. But today the poor unfortunate
ref forgot her pencil and relied on her memory, not a
good idea! At the finish, it was 5-5. However, the
ref had lost count and gave the match to Balbriggan 6-5.
Watch this space as we try to wind back the clock.
NDSL 10B:
NDSL 10C:
NDSL 11Prem: Celtic travelled away to
Navan, Co Meath to take on Johnstown FC in the SFAI
Under-11Menton Cup. Celtic were in stunning form and
Demi Dare who had got the winning goal the previous week
against Malahide in the league, hit 5 against their
Leinster rivals in this cup game. Celtic led 3-0 at
half-time, but they opened up the throttle in the second
half to demolish the opposition. Joining Demi on the
scoresheet were Kevin Miller, Brian Whelan, Malachy
Tighe and Aidan McGivern. Man of the match award went
to Sean Mulvihill. 9-0.
DDSL 11B: Comeback of the season was witnessed
in Donaghmede when Celtic performed the greatest
comeback since Liverpool in the 2005 Champions League
Final, when they took ownership of the European Cup
having won it 5 times - all you Chelsea supporters, take
note, cos you ain't got no history. Sorry back to the
script. Nedin Hivacic, Daire Meehan, and Jordan Barnes,
struck in the second half to take a share of the points
against league leaders Trinity. This was indeed a
marvellous way for Celtic to kickstart their season,
which had seen them most unlucky in their opening games.
3-3.
NDSL 11C:
NDSL 11D: In very windy conditions at Laurel
Lodge, Roy and Bob's team found themselves 3-0 down
against Ratoath Harps within the first 20 minutes.
However, a very strong comeback performance in the 2nd
half should have been rewarded goals with Liam Mulroney,
Daniel Hanney, Gavin Keane, Kenan Zunic & Ayoub Mansouri
all creating very good goal scoring
opportunities. Despite this incessant Castlenock Celtic
pressure, Ratoath did manage to break and score a rather
fortunate goal. 0-4.
NDSL 12Prem:
NDSL 12B (CON): Celtic were unable to stop the
red tide of Shelbourne in the SFAI Norton Cup.
0-4.
NDSL 12C (JOL): Celtic cruised to a comfortable
4-0 away win v Malahide Utd. Caolan O'Donnell hit
a brace, while Paul O'Donoghue and Kacper Kuzma
completed the scoring. Celtic proved the more adept at
mastering the wild conditions by the seaside. 4-0 DDSL 12D (PAllen):
NDSL 12Girls: Brian O'Donovan's side were just
shaded by Ratoath Harps in the club's first ever game in
the Girls' League. They were most unlucky to go down to
a single strike. They look forward to greater
things in the future. Team coach Tony Hanlon was
very pleased and was full of praise for the battling
qualities of the team. 0-1
DDSL 13Prem:
Stephen Foy's goal earned Celtic a share of the points
in their away game v Knocklyon after they had fallen
behind to a first half penalty. 1-1 NDSL 13Prem: Keelan
McAnerin opened the scoring for Celtic after 10 mins.
But it was Ian Watkins who popped up with 3 mins to go
with the winner away to Ashbourne in the SFAI Troy Cup.
Kevin McGovern and Klevis Kubreka were outstanding for
Celtic, while Barry Linnane was heroic at the back.
2-1 NDSL 13C (JnHayes): This game was played
away to Kinsealy Boys at a windy Malahide Castle.
Celtic, missing six players had all of the play in the
first half, with the help of the wind, but couldn't make
any of their chances count. The second half was a much
more even affair, with both sides having opportunities.
Castleknock looked to have secured victory when on-form
James Carolan struck with less than ten minutes to play.
Agonisingly, Kinsealy got a corner late in injury time
and when the ball was crossed in, there was a scramble
and the ball just crossed the line. 1:1. Final whistle
followed immediately and although the Castleknock boys
were disappointed at conceding so late on, they have
continued their impressive start to the season.
1-1 NDSL 13D
(JnByrne): Robust encounter in Laurel Lodge ends with
honours even between Celtic and Ratoath Harps.
2-2.
 NDSL 13E
(AlFahy):
NDSL 14Premier: Daylight robbery in Dundalk. Celtic are robbed by local ref
away in Dundalk as they crash out of the SFAI Cup at the
hands of Glenmuir. 1-2
DDSL 14Major:
Celtic came from behind in their SFAI All-Ireland
Goodson Cup game away to Leicester Celtic. They
were obviously out of sorts, but yet managed to grind
out a result in this prestigious Cup. Leicester had gone
ahead in the first half, only to be pegged back by Adam
Noonan's strike. They remained deadlocked which meant
that they went into extra time. It was a super strike by
John McGivern that sent the Hoops into the next round.
Shane Dunne and Adam Weafer shared the man of the match
award. It is always a good sign when you play
below par and get results. 2-1 NDSL 14C: Ken
and Pearse were very pleased with the character of their
team at home to Killester. Celtic had gone behind within
minutes of the start to a sucker punch. But they
fought their way back with goals from Atif Saied and
Owen Goslin to level the game at half time, which was
the way it stayed till the end. Aidan Black was
the man of the match. 2-2 NDSL 14Girls:
Celtic get their league campaign underway, but
unfortunately they faced a very experienced Rush
Athletic team that have been together for a few year.
 NDSL 14D: Danny
Waters hit Celtic into the lead in the middle of the
second half, but they fell for the sucker punch
immediately on the restart. A draw was a fair
result. 1-1.
NDSL 15Prem: An Eoin Haughton goal was the
difference between Celtic and Portmarnock in Porterstown.
It was a very close affair in a fairly contested game,
with the only card being given for what the ref
interpreted as the thesbian artistry of a
Celtic striker. 1-0 NDSL 15B: NDSL 15C:
Celtic earn share of the points at home to Swords Rovers
in Porterstown. Graham Dunne and Robert Dunne were the
marksmen for Celtic which keeps them well up the table
after the opening games of the season. 2-2 DDSL
16A1:
NDSL 16C: There were goals galore in Raheny,
with Celtic coming out on top in an 8 goal thriller away
to Grangewoodbine. Adam Murnane hit a hat trick,
while Conor Mooney and Pride Mahia helped themselves to
one each. Celtic had led 3-0 at half time.
