NDSL U-9B1

Castleknock Celtic  5    Portmarnock  0

Doing the double over any team in a season is good news, but when you do it with a 10 goal margin, it's a bit special. Just 7 weeks after a 5-0 win away against Portmarnock, our U-9A team won by the same scoreline again at home.

Without regular goalkeeper, Cormac Harmon who's recovering from a broken arm (skiing accident), Matthew Mullen deputised for the first half.

Meanwhile the outfield players went about the job in hand in a very business-like manner. With Emmanuel Ndukwu & Ruairi O'Flaherty as solid as ever in defence, the midfield trio of Calum Carberry, Aidan Sampson and Conor Kavanagh dominated the game creating several scoring opportunities in the process.  Two of these chances were converted by Calumn Carberry which gave the Portmarnock goalkeeper no chance.

The second half saw Castleknock continue to dominate with Leah Byrne on as a substitute.  Continued dominance of the midfield - Matthew Mullen & Calum Carberry had swopped positions by now - created even more chances.

Swift and accurate passes amongst the mideield allowed Stephen Lynch to score and put the result beyond doubt.  The best score of the game was a well worked passing move which saw Conor Kavanagh volley a cross from Aidan Sampson to the back of the net.

Just before the final whistle, Stephen Lynch rounded off a solid display with his second and Castleknock's fifth, which left him just a goal short of emulating his brother, Paul, who scored another hat-trick a fortnight ago. And it doesn't stop there, we have the Lynch twins coming through at U-7 and they looking equally confident. Only negative however for the Lynch dynasty, they are Man U fans like the old-man, ah well, you can't get everything right.

With only 4 matches remaining (2 at home & 2 away), Castleknock lead the league, however the outcome is far from certain with a number of teams having games in hand.
