NDSL
PREMIER LEAGUE U-13 Premier
Raheny United 1 Castleknock
Celtic 7
Celtic
arrived in Raheny in the first week of March yet
again right in the middle of the scrap for the NDSL Premier League, attempting
to regain their title of two years ago.
And
it showed how badly they wanted their title back. Celtic drove forward in wave after wave of
attack resulting in four corners in five minutes with Slevin and Stark hitting
the wood work before Slevin dived to head the opener! There was only ever going to be one result
here.
Mohammed
Mahdy was awesome in a Keano type role, marshalling
the midfield winning everything in the air and ground and pushing Slevin and
Stark forward at every opportunity. Then
Mahdy broke through, beat 3 men, to blast a shot
toward goal for the Raheny keeper to turn into a post
and rebound for Slevin to slot home the second.
It
was all Celtic. Stark picked the ball up
on the left and proceeded to go on a mazy run round the stricken keeper. 3 NIL!
2
minutes later he was at it again this time slotting Slevin in for his third and
Celtic fourth!! Awesome all round.
Celtic
were sublime with Mahdy feeding the rejuvenated Dermot
Murray who was tearing the Raheny defence to shreds
on the left. He crossed for Stark to head the fifth. 5 NIL Celtic at the break! Manager Slevin Senior was speechless for once
other than to say that this was the team’s best 45 minutes of football in five
years together.
Game
restarted with a moment of Celtic madness with a defensive lapse which cost
Celtic a quick goal 5 – 1.
From
then on it was Celtic with Eoin O’Brien, Zak Harold and Dermot Murray electric
in midfield, O’Brien and Harold shots hitting the post.
Celtic
rang the changes with Dean Kelly being thrown on to forward as Celtic went
3-4-3 and immediately lit up the pitch as he dramatically cycle kicked on to
the bar!!
Stark
then went goal crazy with two in 5 minutes. 7-1 as Slevin again struck the bar.
This
performance and Baldoyle’s defeat at home moved
Celtic back to top of the table; with forwards Slevin and Stark on fire 3, and
4 goals this game each, and 25 and 44 respectively
each for the season; Celtic will be hard to beat for rest of season.
