NDSL 13A
Swords Celtic 2 Castleknock Celtic 2
Under 13a held by Swords Celtic
In their first match since
November, John Roe's under 13A team played their best
football of the season.
Away to leaders, Swords Celtic,
who had only lost once this season, it seemed unlikely
that Castleknock would get anything from this game.
However, from the kick off, Castleknock pressed forward,
and created chance after chance, as they swamped the
Swords Celtic goal. With Conor Morrison dominating
midfield, ably assisted by Michael Kiely, it was only a
matter of time before Castleknock scored.
A through ball to John Roe on the
right, was quickly passed by him to the onrushing Wale.
However, Wale dragged his shot wide of the upright.
Another delicate pass by Roe found Kiely in the box, but
again the target was missed.
Again Roe won the ball on the
right, passed to Wale, and this time, he made no
mistake. 1-0 to Castleknock.
It seemed like a question of how
many they would score.
Against the run of play,
however, Swords got a free kick which seemed harmless.
However a mix up in the visitors' defence let in the
Swords striker for the equaliser.
Castleknock continued to press
forward. with Roe setting up chances for his teammates.
Luke O Doherty, Rory Hegarty, Danny Wals and Sean Ryan,
were completely in control in the Castleknock defence.
A long pass from midfield by Roe
found Wale running through at pace. A low shot
inside the near post, keeper beaten 2-1. NO!!!!!!!
Referee was unsighted, the Swords keeper quickly grabbed
the ball from behind the line, play continued!!!
Wale was shocked.
Disaster struck when another mix up
led to Swords scoring a second from only their second
chance of the game. Undaunted Castleknock swept up the
pitch and pressed for another goal which duly came when
Wale outran the Swords cover and scored. According
to Asst. Manager Gately this was the first time this
season that they played as a team. Well done lads,
and as they say, yiz was wobbed. |
