Malahide Utd. 0                   Castleknock Celtic 4

The 12E’s continued their good start to the league season with another super team display to beat Malahide Utd 4 – 0 in Malahide.

The day was far from promising when Celtic met at the AWP in the teeming rains. However the weather cleared and stayed dry for the duration of the match.

Both teams started edgily but on seven minutes a well struck shot to the roof of the net by Tom Byrne after a strong run from the left gave Celtic the lead and a measure of confidence.  Celtic continued to press and was very unlucky not to go 2 up after a beautifully struck free kick from outside the box by Ntinga Mtiko rebounded off the bar.  Orlaith Higgins’s follow up header was well saved by the Malahide keeper. 1 – 0 was the score at half time.

The second half continued with continuous Celtic pressure. The Malahide keeper played brilliantly denying Celtic time and again. A tactical switch with Paul Burke going midfield gave Celtic better control of the match and on 40 minutes Tom got his and Celtic’s second goal. Aaron Connolly scored the third goal on 50 minutes.

Malahide had one good attack in the half and good goal keeping by Jack Jennings who was quick off his line denied them.  Celtic finished the match strongly with Ciarán Byrne having a goal disallowed for off side and Tom scored his third goal of the day on 59 minutes.  The score on the final whistle was 4 – 0.

This was another fine squad performance. All the Celtic players got a run out and every one played their very best and contributed to this fine win.

Squad.  Jack Jennings, Orlaith Higgins, Aaron Connolly, Adam McCabe, Stephen Byrne, Amir Kasaspovic, Thomas Byrne, Jack Ryan, Ntinga Mtiko, Declan King, Ciarán Byrne, Adam Prior, Darragh McCaffrey, Paul Garvey, Graham Chan.
