NDSL U-11C

Balscadden  0    Castleknock Celtic  5

Castleknock Celtic U11 B team clinched the NDSL Ull C league on Sunday with a 5-0 victory away to Balscacdden.  This completed a stunning run for the boys and girl from Castleknock with 12 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss.

Balscadden started brightly but couldn’t get one in the net due to the excellent defensive efforts of Scott Browne, Gile Clarke, Colm McGovern and Luke Lynch and Jordan Toland in Goal.

Castleknock upped a gear and Mathew Doyle nailed the opener with his deadly left foot from an excellent through ball from Ryan O’Neill.  The Celts dominated the rest of the half with superb teamwork on the right side from Andrew Treadwell, Stephen Kavanagh and Gary McCabe.  Mathew Doyle scored the next 2 goals to complete a hat trick in what seemed like no time.  Ryan O’Neill could have made it 4 off a fine ball from Oisin Zambra but hit the crossbar.

The Second half saw another spirited fight back from the boys from Balscadden who refused to go down quietly and battled hard against the Castleknock 11.  Fine tackling from the likes of Anthony Healy and Oleg Okon, and confident ball handling from Oisin Zambra in goal, kept the sheet clean.  The midfield exchanges were dominated by Luke Martin, Andrew Treadwell, Conor Rogers, and Jordan Toland who created several chances by securing good possession and excellent interplay.  Andrew Treadwell came close with a well-conceived shot from distance that came off the crossbar.

Oran O’ Donohue was a key player in the Castleknock attack but it fell to Stephen Kavanagh to score, when he executed a superb strike after taking the ball from mid- way down the right wing to slot past the keeper. Luke Lynch followed with a thunderous high ball in to the top of the net for the fifth leaving the keeper stranded.

Scott Browne deserves special mention for a massive defensive job done throughout the match.  Faruk Ibrahimi was missed on the day but contributed well all season.

Special mentions also for Mathew Doyle and Gary McCabe who both scored hat tricks this season.

Co-Managers Martin Treadwell and Conor O’Neill would like to thank all the kids for their efforts and co-operation during the year as well as a superb bunch of parents that regularly turn out to support the team, both home and away. Thanks also to our sponsors “Tropicana” fruit drinks.
