3/4 November 2007
AUL Div3 Sat : Peter Finn, team manager, was
in awe as he saw his team at home put the visiting
Greenpark to the sword in no uncertain terms. The
ref had to call a halt when they hit 9 past the
visitors. Philip Germaine was the main scoring
menace, hitting four past the Greenpark keeper.
Philip Cooney helped himself to a double, while James
Haughton clocked up his usual strike. Odie Fanning
and Kevin Behan also made their goal contributions. 9-3.
LSL Div1D Sat : FAI Jnr Cup: Celtic lose to
Sportslink in extra time. 1-2.
AUL Div1 Sun : IDLE
AUL Div3 Sun : Tim Duffy was very
satisfied with coming away with the points, after some
recent games where they deserved to get something out of
the fixtures. St Maelruans were somewhat out of
condition, and in truth were no match for a young
energetic team. Paddy McIlroy and Paul Nilan were
Celtic's marksmen on this occasion, coming through
comfortably 2-0. It could have been a hatful.
NDSL 7s:
NDSL 8As: Celtic romp home in a canter.
4-0
NDSL 8B:
NDSL 8E: Hat-trick hero Jack Horgan laid the
foundation for his side's 5-0 drubbing of Malahide Utd.
Ben Traynor and Alex Clarkin were Celtic's other scores.
5-0.
DDSL 8E1: A very close game resulted in a
one-all draw with Willows for Celtic. The first half had
nothing to worry Celtic that much about, as both teams
played their hearts out. The second half started with
both teams eager to break the deadlock, and get a goal.
Willows scored first, but barely 5 minutes later, Celtic
scored from a penalty, Mike Leahy getting a cracking
shot straight into the roof of the net that the Willows
keeper didn't get a sniff of, except maybe the
atmosphere as it burned up with the bullet shot passing
his left ear. The two sides stayed level for the
remainder of the match, leaving Celtic manager Tony
Molloy delighted with 4 points out of a possible 6 from
his last two games. 1-1.

NDSL 9A:
NDSL 9C: Ruairi Dixon was the golden boy as he
struck a hat-trick at home to Balscadden. He had
kept a clean sheet in goal in the first half, and ala
Roy of the Rovers, he came out in the second half and
earned himself the match ball (sorry we can't afford to
give it away!). Sami Magdelin had put Celtic
ahead, see pics
click. Celtic could have made it 5-0, but
Tom Fitzsimons was desperately unlucky with his well
taken penalty which was saved. 4-0.
NDSL 10B:
NDSL 10C: Brian O'Donovan and Gavin Collins
were very pleased indeed with their 1-0 win following
their promotion. They hosted Grangewoodbine at
Porterstown in a very tight game. Celtic had Nedim
Hrvacic to thank for the narrow victory, since it was
his strike that separated the sides in the end.
The Celtic defence performed heroics to keep the home
goal intact. John Lennon Maher ensured that his
goal was not breached. check out their blogsite at

NDSL 10C1:
NDSL 10E:
NDSL 11Prem: This SFAI Menton Seery Cup game
was a cliff hanger in Porterstown. Celtic trailed
2-1 in the dying minutes of regulation time, after Donal
Timoney had scored for the home side. As the clock
ticked away, and it looked like Celtic were going to
exit this cup at the second round stage in their first
attempt, they got a lifeline when a penalty was awarded.
Gavin O'Reilly stepped up and cracked it into the net.
2-2. Then to extra time. Again at the death,
it was Karl Fitzgibbon who raced forward into the box
and beat the keeper. The Celtic team and their
supporters went into dreamland. They have achieved a 3rd
round spot in the draw next week. 3-2.
NDSL 11C: This was a rout in the end for the
home side against Balscadden, playing in Laurel Lodge.
Gerry McCabe was the hero of the hour with his
hat-trick. Andrew Treadwell helped himself to a double.
Matthew Doyle, Oran Donoghue and Anthony Healy completed
the scoring in a vintage performance from Conor and
Martin's well-drilled squad. Goal of the day
was certainly Andrew rasper from 25 yards. 8-0.
DDSL 11D: Dovidas Baraunkas's strike looked enough to earn
Celtic the points against the visiting Knocklyon team.
But full marks to the visitors who fought their way back
to level the game. 1-1.
NDSL 11E: John O'Leary had his squad in peak
condition and well prepared for the fray against Lusk
Utd in their home encounter just after dawn in Laurel
Lodge! Paul Lynch again had his shooting boots on,
hitting a hat trick. Kyle Patton got the other goal.
DDSL 12Major:
Dave Fogarty was very relieved to come away from
Fairview Park having secured their place in the 3rd
round draw for the SFAI National Cup. They had the
extra man to deal with, along with the opposition
Sheriff YC. Yes, the man in black made some strange
decisions which at one stage was a cause for concern
amongst the visiting party. The ubiquitous Eoin Conran
gave Celtic the lead which they held at half time.
Joseph Lennon Maher and Ryan Kearney Moore added 2 more
clinical strikes to give the scoreline a more realistic
look. Sheriff were awarded a dubious corner kick
late on from which they scored. 3-1. NDSL 12Prem:
Celtic enjoyed a very comfortable second round win at
home in the SFAI Norton Cup. 6-0.

NDSL 12B: John Hayes's troops headed off early
for their dawn encounter with Rush Athletic. This was
the return of their fixture which took place the
previous week, which Celtic lost. But this was
Celtic's turn, and with players back from holidays, the
difference was very noticeable. Hassan Ijaz and a brace
from the prolific Keelan McAnerin accounted for Celtic's
goals. The whole defence deserved the man of the
match award, but Colin Byrne's performance warrants
special mention. 3-1. NDSL 12C: NDSL 12D: NDSL 13Prem: Celtic
travelled beyond Nobber to Kingscourt to face the local
Harps team in the 2nd round of the SFAI national cup.
They were struggling with injuries, and they suffered 2
more injury blows during the game that reduced them to
10 men before the finish. Notwithstanding these
reverses, Celtic put in a storming performance watched
by the Glasgow Youth Academy. 4-1.

full report DDSL 13A : Dermot
Bradshaw's team was devastated by injuries and absences
during mid-term break, but he was very proud of his 10
surviving players as they battled away to Verona in the
2nd round of the TSB Cup. But Verona, with much
luck, came through, after Celtic had pounded them in the
final stages, hitting post and bar. The narrowest
of defeats. 2-3. NDSL 13A
: Celtic eventually finished off the resistance of
Maynooth Town in Porterstown.

for report. NDSL 13C: Ken Leech knew that his
side were made battle all the way in this very close
encounter with Woodlawn in Porterstown. These two
sides occupied first and second spots in the league
table, but Celtic were unable to overhaul their North
Dublin rivals. Hisham Magdalin at full back was an
inspiration as he chased every ball as if his life
depended on it, always very focussed. Goalkeeper Timmy
Moran took off some top class saves. Megan
Naughton proved the value of a player who is willing to
give 100 per cent and more. At the end of the day,
it was David McCann's goal that saw his side earn a
share of the points. 1-1.
click NDSL 13D:
Willie O'Gorman took his side to Rivervalley, outside Swords for their early morning
kickoff. They continue to grind out results, this
time earning a share of the points in a hard fought
game. Atif Saeid and Cormac Kelly were on the mark
for Celtic. 2-2. NDSL 14Premier: NDSL 14B: Eoin
Haughton and Hassan ensured that Celtic got full points
in their away fixture against Marino in Fairview Park.
Their impressive run continues. NDSL 14C:
NDSL 14D: NDSL 15A: DDSL 15B:
Celtic
were made to fight all the way to gain the upper hand in
the end of this game against the visiting team from
Ballybrack. Patrick Waters hit a brace, while
Hosam Higazy got the third. Each side had a player
sent off, with the home side having their player
dismissed for giving lip to the ref. This is not
at all clever. You only serve to punish your team mates,
asking them to play the game with one man less, who does
that help? Then there is the suspension and fine! 3-2. DDSL 15B1: NDSL 15B
David Cummins hit his third hat-trick this term against
an awkward Brookview, who were in truth no match for the
home side in Porterstown. DDSL
16A:
Jim Kennelly was very pleased that his team stuck to
their task in this away game against Willows FC.
Their strike force today were Tommy Mooney, Cillian
Quinn and Gareth Deasy, each of whom scored to give
Celtic a 3-2 win. DDSL 16A1: DDSL 18Prem:
Peter Hoey was delighted with his team's 6-2 win away to
Dartry, giving him back to back wins in successive
weeks. Things looked ominous when they fell behind
after 6 mins. Goals from Fran O'Donnell (17 mins),
Paul Duffy (27, 50mins), Eoin O'Shea (62 min) put the
visitors in control. Defensive lapses let the home
side back into it which left it 4-2 on 65 mins.
But goals from Chris Hoey (77 min) and Paul Duffy's
second on 81 mins put the game beyond doubt. Brian
Byrne was Celtic's man of the match for his superb
performance at right full. 6-2. |
