Castleknock

29/30 September 2007

AUL Div3 Sat : Exciting 3-2 victory for Peter Finn's squad away to St Brendan's in Artane, in a very competitive game.  Darren Kinsella, Haughton and Gary Masterson were on the mark for Celtic, which books them a place in the 2nd round draw of the Unidare Cup.

AUL Div1 Sun : Leinster Junior Cup game at home to Longwood OFF due to waterlogged pitch.

NDSL 7s: Paul Danaher was very impressed with his young colts as they hammered Ballymun 10-0 in a great away victory.

NDSL 8As continue their winning ways taking the 3 points at home to a plucky Navan Road Utd.  Tim Kelly got Celtic's opener with a fortuitous effort that the keeper was disappointed not to stop.  Luke Finnegan sealed the victory late on, after Navan Road had pressed hard for long intervals. click for gallery NDSL 8Bs enjoy new sponsorship by Marks & Spencer. click for photo

NDSL 9As: Enda Mullen travelled to North Co Dublin with his premier squad and came out on top with a 3-1 win.  Goalscorers for Celtic were Stephen Lynch, Cian Kelly, and Callum.

NDSL 9C were flattered by a 3-1 scoreline,  as they only made sure of their victory late on with goals from Cian Galvin and Sean Costelloe, brother of David. Daniel Ferreira had got Celtic's other goal.  click for team photo

NDSL 10C1 were good value for a share of the points in this home game v Clontarf.  Celtic's goal came from their centre half Nedim Hrvacic.  more at http://briangavin.blogspot.com and click for more again.

NDSL 11Prem: Donal Timoney hit another brace for Celtic, which along with Gavin O'Reilly, delivered a terrific 3-2 league win away to Clontarf.

NDSL 11C: Gary McCabe, Luke Martin and Andrew Treadwell, were the marksmen who game them this marvellous 3-2 win away to Darndale.

NDSL 11E John O'Leary was delighted with the application of his team as they overcame a committed Baldoyle Utd side in Laurel Lodge, the only Castleknock ground to survive the overnight and morning downpours. Luke Doyle was the goal scoring hero, but it was Shane Coffey whose performance earned him the man of the match award.  Paul Lynch was scratching his head after the game when he was not on the score sheet. He had hit the target twice, only to be ruled offside by the Italian referee.  Paul had been better rewarded the previous week when he hit a brace against Marino in Porterstown.

DDSL 12Major: Comfortable passage into SFAI second round for Dave Fogarty's squad as they win 10-0 at home to Rathcoole.  Ryan K Moore hit 4, while Kyle Turner, who moved up front when the opposition were posing no threat, helped himself to a brace, showing his versatility.

NDSL 12B: Keelan McAnerin and Ciaran Caffrey were on the mark for Celtic, but it wasn't enough as they went down 6-2 away to Marino.  Celtic had to play with a depleted squad.

NDSL 12C: Albert Fahy was very disgruntled that the result looked so cruel in the end of this game from which he felt Celtic deserved at least a draw.  Malahide stuck to  their task in this game which was played in incessant rain on the Laurel Lodge pitch.  Time after time, the whistle blew for offside which made the home side very agitated indeed.  Celtic went 1-0 down early on to a sucker punch after they had looked the likelier side.  They gave themselves a lifeline just before half time when Conor Keith battled to equalise for Celtic.  The second half saw Celtic again dominate, and Shane Sweeney was unlucky when having lost the ball  in the middle of the park, regained possession, raced forward and was only just wide with his effort at goal.  They were again the victim of another sucker punch when Malahide scrambled home their second.  Tadhg Hanlon took off a fine save to keep Celtic in it halfway through the second half.  Then in the final minutes, Celtic suffered two killer blows as they pressed forward to try and find an equaliser. The final score of 4-1 to Malahide more than flatters the visiting side, but Albert knows they will play worse and win games - such is football.  click for gallery

DDSL 13A : Celtic progressed to the 2nd round of the SFAI following a 4-0 away win over Hillview in Clondalkin. Stephen Treadwell, Ian McSherry, Adam Noonan and Sean Conroy were Celtic's marksmen.

NDSL 13C

NDSL 13D: This team will wake up on Monday morning and wonder how they did not pick up all 3 points in this home game v Ratoath Harps.  Cian Henry and Zaid Ahmed had put the home side ahead comfortably.  But within the last 8 mins, concentration deserted them, and they ended up sharing the points with the visitors. click

NDSL 14Premier: Niall Luckie was again the ace in the pack for Donal Hanlon as the prolific striker was again on the mark to give his side a narrow but sweet win  in St Anne's Park against Clontarf.  The decisive goal came 20 minutes from time.  It was a very tight game, and any result was possible.   Celtic survived Clontarf pressure which saw the home side hit the woodwork late on.  The benefits of the UEFA coaching by Philip Zambra are reaping their reward, and one can see the improved passing and staying power in the side.
