Maynooth Town 0 Castleknock
Celtic 4
12-Premier
Kevin Moran Cup
15 Oct 06
Celtic's Premier U-12
side made easy work of this second round cup game
away to Maynooth Town. Celtic poured forward, with
Brian Slevin, Mark Conroy and Gareth O'Hara, all
going close with great efforts before Conor Byrne
broke the deadlock with a 20 yard volley. How the
score was still only 1-0 at half time is anyone's
guess.
The second half was
more of the same, with man of the match, Greg
O'Brien, winning tackle after tackle to push his
team forward from midfield. Greg notched up a
hat-trick for himself and give his team a
comfortable margin at the end of the day.
At the back, Sean
Hanney, was equally impressive, and was just pipped
by O'Brien for man of the match, because of his
goal haul.
Celtic went close
again with efforts from jovan prodanic and garreth
elliot, both scraping the wood work. Celtic, winners
of this trophy, two yrs ago and beaten finalists
last year, march on with an impressive 12 match
unbeaten record, which includes 6 clean sheets,
gaining them a reputation for a very tight and
unforgiving defence, which they will need to keep to
keep to reach the final for the third year in a row.
