CELTIC CROWNED
CHAMPIONS
Celtic's 11 Premier side has taken the second
title of
its quaduple-chasing challenge. Having already been
crowned the North Leinster Regional Champions, they travelled to Drogheda
on a day when they knew that if they won, and Ashbourne
lost, they would be automatically crowned U-11Premier
League champions.
And that is exactly what happened. Their superb
striker Ryan Kearney Moore was again hitting the spot,
as he hit a brace, which along with Dave Costelloe's
goal, gave Celtic a 3-1 win over Boyne Rovers.
We have to applaud this team for its achievements.
It won the double last year, and are strong favourites
to perform exceptionally again this season. They
were knocked out of the SFAI All-Ireland Cup at the
quarter final stage in controversial circumstances, but
it did not knock them off their stride. They were
quickly back to winning ways, and won the North Leinster
Region Danone Cup, and will now
participate in the All-Ireland Danone Cup, the winner of
which goes abroad for the international Danone
competition.
While this is a
very talented team, they are also a very hard working
group of players. They train hard, and thanks to
their generous sponsor, they are given the highest
quality of coaching, led by Declan Heavey, which has delivered rich dividends.
It is no surprise therefore that they have been declared
champions with a couple of games still to be played.
We must also
congratulate the manager, Dave Fogarty, with his
assistants, Richie Stephenson and Fran Boyne.
Together they have put in a lot of very hard work and
dedication, which is now reaping a rich reward in terms
of the progress that the players and team have made.
Next week they
will play in the Tom Coughlan Cup Final in Morton
Stadium, Santry at 10am, Sunday, 13th May, and we wish them the very
best of luck, as they try to complete the third leg of
the quadruple.
