Castleknock Celtic 4   Clontarf FC  2

NDSL U-11D

18/2/07

It was cold and frosty at 10am in Laurel Lodge, which set the scene for Castleknock Celtic’s 4 - 2 league win over Clontarf.

The first half was very much continuous Castleknock pressure. Amir Kasovic scored the first after 11 minutes with a shot from the edge of box.  With most of the play in Clontarf’s half a second goal proved elusive.

The second half continued like the first half with Luke Smyth going very close with an excellent volley. The second goal on 39 minutes came following good build up work by Niall O’Callaghan putting Evan Kennelly through. However Clontarf struck back from the kick off and thanks to a deflection got one back. Encouraged by their goal Clontarf continued to press and they scored the equaliser from a free kick some three minutes later. With the scores level the contest moved from end to end with both defences working hard and both goalkeepers making excellent saves.

Aaron Connolly finally broke the deadlock on 54 minutes with a shot into an open net having dribbled around the Clontarf keeper.  Four minutes later good build up work by Castleknock put Aaron through for his second goal and so secured victory.

The win marks further progress since the squad first came together in September. They are now maturing into a well-organised team.

Squad: Jack Jennings, Luke Smith, Aaron Connolly, Declan King, Adam McCabe, Jack Ryan, Hugh Malloy, Thomas Byrne, Lousie O'Connor, Amir Kasasovic, Ciaran Byrne, Adam Prior, Evan Kennelly, Niall O'Callaghan.
