DDSL U-10D Cup

14/1/07

This was on of the very few games to survive the inclement weather this weekend.  It was one of those cases, it's on, it's off, and eventually, it's on, and so the game went ahead in very cold wintry sunshine in Johnstown Park in Finglas.

The Celtic team were mustard keen after the Christmas break and were not slowed down by the pudding and chocs.  They put in a devastating performance over their great rivals Tolka Rovers from the higher C-division.  So on paper, it looked like a banker home-win. But Celtic had not read that script.  They blitzed the illustrious Finglas side with a 7-goal salvo.

Daniel Boyle hit 2, John Kindlon and David Kelly helped themselves to one each, while man of the match, captain Jordan Toland struck a magnificent hat-trick, to leave the visitors home and hosed with a 7-1 victory.  Well done to Liam Croash, manager, and Vernon McAllorum, coach, who were absolutely delighted with the kids, whose coaching and training during the break reaped dividends.  Vernon was especially pleased as he had a 100% weekend, his Castleknock Celtic Leinster Senior League team having won 3-1 in their Cup match on Saturday.
