14As record fine home win over
Swords Manor. Goals from Paul McGrath on the
double, and Abdul Said, gave the home side a 3-1
victory. The sides had been level 1-1 at
half-time. Man of the match was Paddy Tynan.
15Bs delivered a real sucker
punch to the visiting Drumcondra side. The
league had offered Celtic a 6-point fixture,
presumably to suit the Drums fixture programme, and
Bertie's old club were keen to save themselves a
second meeting when they could collect a handy 6
points in one shot. But Sean Dunne's side had
other ideas, and forgot to read the Drums script.
Colm Dunne and Craig Dunne and Dave Kelly got the
Celtic goals in a 4-1 win, which considerably
improves their position in the top zone of the
table.
DDSL 18Premier took 3 points
from their fixture against 2nd-placed Lourdes
Celtic, and moves Celtic strongly into contention
for the runners-up spot. Ballybrack look
likely league winners. Philip Cooney was man
of the match, and scored Celtic's first, while Rory
Fagan got the second. The sides had been level
at half time.
Celtic's Leinster Senior League
Premier Sat side earned their place in the final
after their 1-0 away win over Templeogue Utd.
Gary Deveney got Celtic's goal in the 7th minute, a
lead they held to the end. They now will play
in the Lummy O'Reilly Cup Final.
Eddie O'Callaghan's AUL
Div2 Sun side were robbed by a very biassed ref in
St Annes Park against Donnycarney. Celtic
finished the game 2-2, but went down 4-2 on
penalties, after they had won the previous round on
penalties against Booth Road Celtic. Football
can be a very cruel game, and very unfair. But
this is a resilient bunch of lads, though very
young, and they will bounce back. We wish them well
next Friday in the semi-final of the Elastoplast
Shield. |
