Eddie O'Callaghan's AUL
Div 2 put in a stunning performance away to
Dunsink in the Elastoplast Shield in this quarter
final tie. The sides were level at half time,
but one sensed that this super fit Celtic team would
eventually overcome. And so it proved.
After the resumption after the break, Adam
O'Callaghan, who must be vying for the golden boot
award, hit the first of Celtic's 3 goals with a
cleverly hit free kick. He hit his second with
a beautiful half-volley. And it was Colm
Brady, who is making a habit of venturing forward
into the final third, who hit the third. We
now move forward to the semis, and silverware again
beckons.
AUL
Div 3 Sun have superb win over local rivals,
Tyrellstown. Tim Duffy and Steve McLoughlin
were not surprisingly delighted with their team's
performance. They have come up through the
ranks of the schoolboys and are enjoying their first
year in the top flight. Stuey Bannon was on
fire in this local derby, as he hit a hat-trick.
Ray Kelly struck with a bullet header to complete
the scoring. Man of the match was a difficult
choice as the team had performed very well, but
Emmet McDonald probably shaded it.
U-12E hit 5 past
Ratoath Harps in Laurel Lodge blitz. The local
Co Meath side had come with high hopes against
Willie O'Gorman's troops, but they were sunk by a
hat-trick from Raheel Tabascon, Hisham Madgelin, and
an o.g. Willie and his assistant Ciaran Black
were over the moon with the effort of their team who
had shown great character to put in a marvellous
performance.
U-13D continued their
fabulous run when they hit 8 past the hapless Swords
Celtic team. Castleknock, with Brendan Smith
at the helm, have been putting a great sequence of
results together in recent times. They must be
fancying themselves for a crack at the top spots at
the end of the season. Fionn Rogers was again
on the mark as he hit a hat-trick. Niall
Luckie used his skills not his luck as he helped
himself to a brace. Gavin Henry, Graham Dunne,
and Mark McIlkenny completed the scoring. They
are looking forward to their visit to Glasgow in May
for their weekend away. Given their effort in recent
times, they certainly deserve it.
U-14Premier went down 3-1 in the quarter final of
the Pat McCartan Cup. Callum Zambra was
Celtic's marksman. U-14As were worthy
winners away to Lusk Utd when Paul Conway was on the
mark. He raced into the 6 yard area to send a
bullet header to the back of the net from Sean
Hanlon's well-taken corner.
DDSL U-18Premier were
stunned by an amazing comeback by high-flyers
Ballybrack Boys in Porterstown. Celtic had
gone into a 3-0 lead and looked like they were going
to upset the odds. Though Celtic had taken a
point from Ballybrack earlier in the season, form
since then suggested this would be a difficult
encounter for Celtic. Early on, it appeared
Peter Finn's hopes of taking 4 of the 6 points
available from these two fixtures would be realised.
But in fairness, Ballybrack came back like troopers
and earned the 3 points coming out on top by the odd
goal in 7. Philip Germaine and a brace from
Rory Fagan left Celtic just short of the mark. |
