Castleknock Celtic U-12 Premier 2
Castleknock GAA U-12 1

This was a double header between the 2 codes that share 9 common players, who play soccer on a Sunday and Gaelic football on a Saturday!

Celtic the U-12 Premier league leaders started the game in a highly confident mode, stroking the ball around in a classy way, but were soon brought down to earth, when dermot murray (their normal left winger), scored a stunning left foot volley to put the Gaelic lads 1 nil up and leave Celtic reeling!

Sean Hanny steadied the ship and Celtic realised they had a game on their hands. With their usual 5 man midfield passing sublimely, they created two wonderful goals from Conor Byrne and Mark Conroy. The game was a great testament to friendship between the two codes, and demonstrated how  great GAA players will always be able to play the soccer code, like Moran in the past!

The common players between the two teams: Matthew Dunn, Kevin Murphy, Dermot Murray, Cormac Doyle, Cian Conway, Cian O'Hara, Garreth O'Hara, Colm Neville, Dean Kelly, Eoin O'Brien, Brian Slevin, Conor Byrne, shook hands and prepared to do battle in the Gaelic code. But the soccer boys were in for a rude awakening.

Castleknock Celtic U-12 Premier 2-2

Celtic started the game in storming fashion with captain Gareth O'Hara running the full length of the pitch to score a brilliant solo point to shock the GAA crew, but it only served to ignite the stunning GAA team who proceeded to destroy their soccer mates with a hat trick( if that term exists in GAA), from Conor Madden and Dermot Murray and some electric play from the Hughes twins to put Celtic back in their box after their footie win.  Celtic added 2 goals from Conor Byrne and a sublime back heeled goal from Garreth "Junninio " Elliot to bring a little dignity to the score line before Brian Slevin bagged a consolation point for the soccer lads!

A great time was had by all as the GAA team prepares to go into the play-off for the Dublin league deciders over the next 3 weeks, while celtic return to defend their Premier top spot in the league.

Castleknock is blessed with such talented sports men in both codes that will hopefully produce many inter county and soccer internationals of the future.
