In preparing the plan, the Coaching Committee adopted a consultative approach. The Committee conducted a survey of coaches within the club at the Phil Wymer session February 2006. There was a formal questionnaire which asked two questions:
- What areas do you think the Coaching Committee could help you in coaching and developing both your players and yourself?
- What in your opinion is the best way to receive coaching help?
There were 21 respondents to the written survey. The results are attached in Appendix A.
There was a good representation in the survey from the 8 – 14 age group. However, there was a concern that coaches from the Development League and from the 15 – 18 age groups were not sufficiently represented. As a result, coaches in these age groups were contact by Philip Zambra (Development League coaches) and Brian Cummins (coaches of 15- 18 age group) and requested for their input which is included under. The feedback received from these coaches was consistent with the results of the survey shown in Appendix 1.
The Committee also met with the members of the Executive Committee to discuss and agree the plan. The plan has the full support of the Executive Committee.
