NDSL 14A: Convincing win for Celtic at home to Ashbourne

Castleknock Celtic 7 – Ashbourne 1

For the second week in a row, this trigger happy 14A side were 4 – O up within the first quarter of an hour. An early opener from the in-form Darren Doyle was quickly followed by strikes from Cian Kelly and two from leading scorer Malachy Tighe – the second of which was a penalty. Celtic’s midfield of Sean Costello, Donncha Ryan, Oisin Murphy O’Kane & Zaryab Afridi was well and truly on top and controlled the flow of the game

Shortly after the restart, Ashbourne got a goal back and perhaps could have had a couple more were it not for the safe hands of James Igoe.  However, before too long Liam O’Neill was on hand to score the 5th for Celtic, followed by Malachy Tighe scoring the 6th and his hat trick !!!!!. The scoring was rounded off by Darren Doyle scoring his 2nd of the day.

After the game, Co-managers, Enda Mullen & Brendan Carolan expressed satisfaction with the squad’s performance today.  After a shaky start to the season the squad has settled with some new members adding some much needed depth to the squad.  This depth of talent will be essential to Celtic if they are to maintain the momentum of the previous 3 league fixtures.

Finally, a special word of thanks to the huge numbers who turn out week after week, home or away to support and encourage these young men.
