DDSL U-12 Farry Cup 2nd Round: Celtic make their exit 2-4

U12 Farry Cup 2nd Round

Usher Celtic(B1) 4 Castleknock Celtic(C) 2

It was an early start in Islandbridge as Castleknock were the visitors against Farry cup favourites Usher Celtic. Usher who went through their season unbeaten last year and have won 5 out of 5 this campaign who were going to be tough opponents for a well organised Celtic team.  With Usher a league above their opponents as well, everything was against Castleknock Celtic who came out of the blocks with all guns blazing and went straight at a stunned Usher team.

With tough tackling and some great passing it wasn’t long before leading goalscorer Winston Wang was too quick for the Usher defence and fired Castleknock into the lead. Usher came back strongly and got a well deserved equaliser.

Celtic had most of the ball after and wouldn’t lie down to an unbeaten Usher team and got a 2nd goal when Winston Wang combined with Ayoub Khennache and Ayoub fired Castleknock into the lead just before half time.

Second half started with a lot of pressure from Usher who were starting to show why they were unbeaten over a year and were starting to torment stand-in goalkeeper  and man of the match Ethan Murphy.  With save after save there was nothing  that Ethan could do about Usher’s equaliser.

With missed chances from Winston Wang, Ayoub Khennache and Franklin Izundu maybe things could have been different but it wasn’t to be as Usher were just too strong on the day and got another 2.

It was a great battling display by the lads and were very unlucky to come away with a famous cup shock. Well done to every member of the team for another display of beautiful football and thanks to all parents who travel out to support the lads and lady every week.  Best of luck to Usher Celtic in this year’s cup!!!!!
