DDSL 12A prove too sharp for Phoenix: 4-2

These 2 teams had vivid memories from their Cup encounter last season when Celtic beat them on penalties.

It started off lively and the away team should have been well ahead after the first 15 minutes. First Tony t’Uway and then Dylan Smith had one on one’s with the keeper without finding the net. The home team pounced on their opportunity and score against the run of play.

Jeremy Mputu was introduced for the injured Tino and instantly made an impact, running up the wing and scoring a fantastic equaliser. This spurred Celtic on and five minutes later Oisin Kirwan chipped the keeper for the second.

Tactical changes by the home team made it very difficult for Celtic and saves by Stephen Mason were necessary to keep the lead.  With 15 minutes to go a defensive error gave the home team a lifeline at 2-2 but runs by Jeremy and Matthew Moran and clinical finishing by Tony t’Uway clinched the tie for Celtic. 2 wins in their opening league games has instilled confidence in their first season on the 11 a side pitch.  They are looking forward to maintaining their progress with a full winter programme ahead.
