12As Enjoy Sunny South-East Trip

The Under 12 A team had a very successful tour of the sunny south east last weekend.

They played and won three matches. Defeating Gorey Celtic's Under 12B team by 9 - 0. Highlighted were three goals from Sean Hoare and a penalty from Aisling Hoey.

This was followed up with a 3-2 victory over Gorey's A team. Luc Cautley, Sean Conroy and Robbie Kavanagh scored the goals. Guest goalkeeper, Patrick Dunne did very well in ensuring the victory. Colin Collins and Paul Daly were instrumental in the victory.

In the final they played a strong Ferns United team in a very competitive game. Ferns dominated the first half and went 2-0 up at half time. Indeed if it were not for goalkeeper Adam Weafer the score would have been much higher. Castleknock came out fighting in the second half and got back into match quickly when Luc Cautley did brilliantly to control the ball, turn and shoot powerfully to the bottom corner. Robbie Kavanagh levelled the scores midway through the second half when his shot from the right was too strong for the Ferns goalkeeper.

With 5 minutes left, a superb move from the back involving 5 players ended with Eoghan Bradshaw striking a low, hard shot to the back of the net. With time running out and Ferns pushing for an equalizer, Luc Cautley capped a Man of the match performance with a second goal. Deep in injury time Ian McSharry confidently converted a penalty to make the score 5-2. Others to impress were Adam Noonan, Stephen and Shane Dunne.

All in all it was a fantastic weekend for Castleknock Celtic's under 12A team and parents as apart from the football it was really great fun.
